There are numerous causes that will cause you to get less than 20 mbs in your system. Now not all of them are because of a router So you will ought to do some troubleshooting and discover what relatively is the quandary. Disconnect your router and plug your laptop immediately into the modem. Run a speed experiment if your pace is 20 mbs, then you will have a router difficulty If not, then are trying the velocity scan with your neighbors laptop. Should you nonetheless are not up to velocity, name the ISP If now the speed is there, the concern is your desktop, no longer your networking hardware if you obtained 20 mbs when linked instantly to the modem, then are attempting going by way of the router. Make certain you might be jogging all assessments rough wired. Wi-fi is for comfort no longer efficiency. Only if you cannot get 20 mns with a hardwired connection must you appear at changing the router excellent luck

There are a lot of reasons that may cause you to get less than 20 mbs on your system.
Not all of them are due to a router
So you are going to have to do some troubleshooting and find out what really is the problem.
Disconnect your router and plug your computer directly into the modem. Run a speed test
If your speed is 20 mbs, then you may have a router issue
If not, then try the speed test with your neighbors computer.
If you still are not up to speed, call the ISP
If now the speed is there, the problem is your machine, not your networking hardware
If you got 20 mbs when connected directly to the modem, then try going through the router. Make sure you are running all tests hard wired. Wireless is for convenience not performance.
Only if you cannot get 20 mns with a hardwired connection should you look at replacing the router
Good Luck
