Anyone have luck in using a non-HP 940 chip in an HP 940 cartridge?

I hear HP 920,950,932,363,801,364, 564,177,178,862 chips might work, but I haven't tried them.

Update:

I used to like Lexmarks Fi Dolla. Then I decided to go cost efficient w/an old Epson. Then I found a Canon, like you, and was quite pleased with refilling them, but I geared to HP because of the bigger cartridges.. less refilling you know. I've had luck in refilling HP 940, transferring the chip to a compatible without chip, exchanging the head w/ HP 10, HP 88 etc (and yes, I know the inks aren't quite the same, but this was a freebie printer from someone who left it). But one time I bent a chip and had to buy a cartridge pronto. Next I will try chips that I hear are compatible and build up a backup chip supply.

And people walk by all them printers in the second hand shops. Not realizing their nice little hp sitting at home is a devil in disguise.

Bought me a Canon a few years back, I refill both color and black, with black, and go print my color stuff at the store. Compare that to good ol' hp's ink cost. Yep, hp printer go in trash REAL fast.

No, it will not work. Ink cartridges are printer specific. They may look alike and fit in the printer carriage, but the electrical contacts will not match up. Ink cartridges will only work on the printers that they were designed for. It may also damage the printer circuitry
