How did you know when to switch dog trainers?

And what advice whould you give a Newbie what to look for in their trainer when to move on?

Update:

As for venue, what ever training venue you are associated with. State the venue. Competition or eal world training. Your ultimate goal and how to recognize if your current trainer is not moving your dog forward.

And of course, how would you advise a newbie to set a goal and recognize that the trainer is either not the right one for you or does not have the experience to help you achieve your goals or whatever other reason you may have to change trainers.

Update 2:

Greek. It is not for me. I am very happy with my current trainer. But I went thru 6 trainers to get there. When I started my sport I had no experience and no one to guide me. With my current trainer I have surpassed (I am trying not be boastful) the capabilities of my 6 previous trainers.

Switch trainers when you & your dog aren't getting what you need from your current trainer.

When you see any piece of paper with his name...and the words "Certification" or "Certified" on it.

That's an open question...what are you training for, what are your goals? If your current trainer is not producing the results you want to see in your dog, its time to go.

If your current trainer is allergic to the word, compulsion, its time to go. If they are calling you a "pet parent" its time to go...add on more details though...this is interesting.

switch if you arent noticing progress, if the dog doesnt seem to respond to the trainer during any of the sessions or if you feel like the trainer isnt right for you.
