I live in mississippi and also if they are kept inside can i plant them today?

Plant seeds 1/8 under soil, keed moist, keep in sunny area, and expect to see it pop ut in 2 weeks.
Unless you can keep it around 80 degrees, wait until May and plant outside.
Now go drink a beer and relax.

mine thrive with ashes mixed in the soil they are a plant that likes a lot of sun so if indoors make sure to get them in a window with good sun exposure or grow lights work fine enough i live in utah desert and have quite a few indoor peppers and veggies for winter
