Why do so many pre teens think they can write?

I mean just because you read Twilight or the Hunger Games does not qualify you to write the latest hit novel. I'm kind of sick of seeing the same question in Books and authors. Saying please read my story blah blah blah.

Probably because most people - not just pre-teens - have no idea how hard it actually is to write a novel. They hear about the authors like JK Rowling and Stephenie Meyer who have become huge successes due to writing, and think that novels are a fast track to fame and fortune. They don't understand the reality of writing and think it must be easy.

Okay, first of all, not everyone asks that. Second of all, I'm sorry if I sound frustrated. I'm 13 and yeah... anyway, I love writing. It's a way to bring out emotions. A lot of people don't write just to be famous and get rich, and we certainly don't think that we're writing "the latest hit novel". We just want to express our emotions and thoughts in the form of words. Trust me, I know people in my class write just to have fun. We might be young, but we know what it feels like to be pressured. We also know that just because we can write a decent essay or fairly good story doesn't make us authors, but we ARE writers.

do no longer cope with "teenagers/pre-teenagers" as stupid. Write the story as while you're writing for adults. do no longer dumb down on the vocabulary or plot. teenager books are teenager books purely via fact the better character is a teenager and not the rest.

Everyone can write, Whether it be 8 year olds or 100 year olds! I'm only 13 and I write stories. Maybe we're not good yet, but we're practising! Of course anyone at any age can write! I don't write just to be famous. I write because ideas just keep bursting out of my head and I love writing. I want to make people feel lots of emotions when reading my story. That's my goal.

  • Well I'm 15 now, and I've been a serious writer since I was in elementary school. Most people say that I'm a fantastic writer, which I try not to take too seriously and keep improving upon my writing ability. But I'm not being conceited in the slightest when I say that I am a talented writer, at least to some extent.

Nothing qualifies anyone to write the latest hit novel, nor does every writer want to. Some people just enjoy writing and are good enough at it to keep doing it. That's like me. I love it and I have skills, therefore I write.

People who ask for others to read their story usually want an opinion on it. Maybe some of them have talent, maybe some of them don't. That's for the reader to judge. But know this: one's past does not define one's future. Maybe a teenager read a book that inspired them to try a hand at writing, or maybe they're like me. I've been reading and writing since I learned. Nothing inspired me, I just have a mind that works in that fashion. Of course I have been inspired by certain events in my life that give me ideas for a story, but I didn't just wake up one day after finishing a book and say "I'm going to be a writer now!" I was born thinking that.

You'll find that preteens generally aren't good at anything much. Seriously, they've only had a couple years tops of practice and don't have the oppertunities yet for specialty classes and tutoring. Why is that their fault?

You get better through practice. It's good that they're starting at such a young age.

The kid who writes stories now may gain the skills and encouragement needed to become an author as an adult.

The kid playing with plastic doctor sets now may gain the schooling and skills needed to become a surgeon as an adult.

The kid playing soccer now may gain the skills needed to play in the oylpmics.

Why do you expect anyone to be great at something right off the bat? You weren't any good at what you wanted at their age either. It takes practice and ENCOURAGEMENT so that they can keep pursuing their dreams and get better.

If you don't like it, then skip over their questions.

Source(s): I'm pretty sure that anyone who has been writing for years, even just a couple, can look back at their old stories and see how much they've improved.

I am 20 I like to ask people to read my story not because i want to be rich or famous because I want to progress in writing and I want to know what people like writing and maybe if i manage to write a good enough book I would like it to be in bookshops so I can share my imagination with people. I have had one book I wrote self published online and some of my friends and family have brought it and some said I need to work on it a bit more but that's fine because I now know what needs perfecting. but some people on here need encouragement and some of the stuff I have read is really good for a "pre-teen" so you say.

Because they are kids and to them they can. They might not be the best in the world but writing takes practice. Its sad that you would try to put them down and make them second guess themselves. Not all people can writers in one day. It takes time and the older the get the better there vocab and spelling get. Their stories will be better as well. Writing gets better with age because the older we get the better we understand the world and that can be shown threw the writing. Some people don't want to get published they write because that's what they love to do. I'm tired of seeing people wanting others to do the book reports and homework but its not my business. You don't like it then skip those questions and get on with your life!

I think that you need to cut the kids some slack. I was eleven when I started writing, and I know now that I wasn't any good at it, but those were the years when I learned to love it while I learned to get better at it. If I hadn't received some measure of encouragement at that age, I'd never have become an author.

They tend to have a higher imagination than adults. That's why children right about Fantasy, and Fiction so much.
