Belonging
by John Trent
Rolling whispers through the shifting dunes
And the golden oats dance,
Swaying on autumn’s salty and gentle breezes
Ever ancient and ever rhythmic the swells rise and fall
With white crests returning to touch the shore
And undulating lines of sea foam chase a graying gull
I belong to this emerald green vastness
For it owns my soul
All mighty ocean, cleanse my spirit
Take me as I am……
For my feet have felt the very essence of your sand
I have walked your silky shores for untold miles
And pondered and contemplated my very existence
Now…. With deep lines etched upon my darkened face
I stand within the shallows of your surf
With the Sun drenching and kissing my being
My eyes remain closed, yet I can see its brilliance
Feel each shimmer……
Sense each and every ray of warmth…..
And a calm envelops,
Sending my mind adrift on the returning tide

I cannot recommend this poem enough. It's so simple, yet so complex. And it is about belonging. About giving your heart to someone.
[i carry your heart with me(i carry it in]
BY E. E. CUMMINGS
i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear;and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
i fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you
here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart
i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)
