Would you rather fly, drive or take the train?

Going from Tampa to Philadelphia. One way is longer but free, the other is quicker but today's tsa hassles. I am taking 2 cremation urns and some medication with a faded label. My thought was drive up and fly back. Your opinions appreciated, thanks.

I drive anywhere there is a road.

I fly for pleasure. Sailplanes and C172's are fine. No problem.

I tried to fly commercial from Montreal to Sudbury. It is a 9 hour drive, taking your time. This happened quite a few years ago, when 727's were still common on Canadian air routes. It was before 9/11, so there was not really an issue with airport security. It was before that.

The airport was a big problem. Then we actually got out to the runway with two engines running, (727)engine #2 going thump thump thump, as the pilot tried the starter. We sat on the taxi way for an hour, everyone taxi-ing past us, while they decided what to do.

They taxied us behind a hanger, opened the bar, and changed the engine, with us aboard.

Missed the connecting flight at Pearson, (Toronto). No standby seats, wait to tomorrow, - At Pearson, merde, they closed the doors to the coffee and sandwich machines at 9 PM. We didn't arrive at Sudbury until mid afternoon the next day. Missed the funeral we were going to.

Flying back Sudbury to Pearson, the airport wasn't to easy, but the pilot couldn't lower port main gear. Finally got the wheel down, no lock light, lots of stress. The gear held, but we got towed from the stop point to the terminal, all the way down the main runway, by a little tractor. I really felt for the pilot. Quite embarrassing.

That airplane was supposed to go to Bermuda. They took the plane that was supposed to go to Montreal as a replacement for the defective plane. The airline said "Tough, wait for the next flight tomorrow."

That made two 24 hour flights that should have taken a couple of hours. We could have driven there and back, 3 times, in that number of hours, in a rented car, for 1/4 the price.

So, I don't fly commercial, anywhere I can drive.

The only thing I can think of, if you are well built, you might get a charge out of showing off in the full body scanner. However, if you have some urns, they are going to open them, and probably inspect, which you might not appreciate. I think I would sooner drive that distance, both ways. Tampa to Philly is not that far.

Source(s): I guess you can tell I don't think much of commercial airports.

If you have cash the best would be to charter a pilatus pc12 or citation. Pc12 is fast but a little cheaper and chartering wouldn't matter with what your hauling

i drove from houston to philadelphia once. it wasn't bad, so you can drive. taking train would be nice also!

flying would be expensive though. while that may be a kinda far distance, you don't really need to fly.

Take the train.. but only if they have berths or rooms. Day coach is no fun.
