What's a good replacement to a Canon Rebel t3i?

I really really want the canon rebel t3i 18mp camera, but can't afford $800 on a camera...is there another camera similar? One that has 18mp and takes really good pics, but also shoots really good videos?? Looking for something under $500. Please please help!!!

Lots of DSLRs including those from Canon that are under $800.

Don't get hung up on the MPs. Properly composed photos print about a 3mpfile for an 8x10, an 8mp photo can print well to 24" x 36" and 12mp can go to 5' tall and with proper compositing can be billboard sized. The stuff you upload are normally reduced to less than 1mb.

Instead, look at lens, battery performance, video or not, built in flash. Cut the features you don't intend to use, keep the ones you must have and pick your compromises.

Consider factory re-furbs or used. In the used market, I prefer Craigslist or other local want-ads that allow you to see the items before you commit to a purchase. If e-bay, pay close attention to seller ratings and return policy. Plan on a new battery when researching prices. I have purchased numerous cameras, lenses, and other equipment used and so far (knock on wood) I have never ended up with a lemon.

No, not an exact replacement. The t3 is about $550 and an excellent dslr. If you can still find the t1i, I own one and it's excellent, I think they're about $650.
