A fraction greater than 1 would be (for example), 4/3 or 8/5. While a fraction less than one would be 3/4 of 1/7.

A fraction greater than 1 just means that there are more than 1 whole of the fraction

    For example:

4/3 just means that there are 1 whole = 3/3 and an additional 1/3 on top of it

Likewise 8/5 just means there are 1 whole = 5/5 and an additional 3/5 on top of it

Now it is possible that there are more than just 1 whole of the fraction, you can have multiple wholes of the fraction, for example:

16/3 would mean that there are 5 wholes of 3/3 and an additional 1/3 on top of the wholes.
