I want to be a drifter but my parents won't acept it?

When I graduate high school I just want to be a drifter, go where the wind blows me. That's my personality and I can't change it. Neither of my parents really understand my train of thought when I say that nothing matters. Of course things matter but in the end they don't, you know? Anyway can I just do it for a summer or something to show to them that I'm fine and I'm happy. I don't want to be rich or have a set future. I also can't leave without their approval, they're the ones that raised me and I respect them very much but I don't want to be unhappy. What should I do?

I can see why your parents dont want you to be a drifter, (i didnt know what it was until i googled it just now), they dont want to see their daughter have no home, nowhere safe to be. They have always provided a roof over your head. But i can also see where you are coming from: you want to see the world. if you enjoy writing, do a compare and contrast piece of all the pros and cons of letting you be a drifter. maybe after that, they're be more accepting of your decisions, and realize that they can not control you forever.
