which heartworm preventative best for 6.6 lb pom. revolution topical or trifexis oral?

I live in a low heartworm area and have never used preventative. But I am taking my pom into a heartworm prevelant area for a competition. She is heartworm negative as of today. Which of the 2 are safest with the least potential side effects for a 6.6 lb pom?

Update:

These are the 2 options recommended by my vet. Do you think I would give her something over the counter when it comes to putting poison in or on my dog?

I would go with the oral option simply because it is a lot less mess. With topical solutions it creates a greasy spot and you can't pet that area because you will get the chemicals on yourself.

As far as safety and side effects go if they contain the same chemicals then they would both have the same rating for your dog, however with a topical application you risk getting the chemicals on yourself when you pet and play with your dog.

i does not believe any topical heartworm preventative - use Heartguard or the everyday equivalent to evade heartworm and a variety of of alternative worms mutually. Topical preventatives like Advantix or Frontline Plus are secure and easily mandatory to save your canine flea and tick loose. The nutrients you element out would not reason maximum cancers, it merely isn't mind-blowing nutrients, kibble must have meat listed because the first element, no corn meal elements or man made preservatives. My vet gained't prescirbe or promote Revolution, it has led to complications in canine and it would not artwork ok both, a separate heartworm pill and a topical flea/tick preventative are some distance more advantageous secure and bigger powerful.

Hearing about some bad reactions to Trifexis. I've never used a topical heartworm preventative. If it was me I'd use Heartgard.

I've used trifexis for my dogs and it works great for fleas. They haven't been on it long enough to have another heartworm test some but from what I've read about it, it works good. I've never heard of any negative effects on trifexis.
