Tell me how this is legal?

Question

I'm a senior this year and throughout my high school years there is a kid that comes on the morning announcements and prays? I thought that was against the constitution?? Is it legal because a student does it and not a teacher? Maybe a moment of silence but no, he goes on the announcements and prays to a specific God. Just please explain to me how they get away with this.
I live in the South by the way.(Mississippi)

See here's the problem, if that kid was a Muslim praying to Allah, it'd probably be considered very "culturally diverse" and somewhat brave/ heroic. But, of course, because this kid is Christian, people have a problem with it. It really makes me question what our world has come to. He's also not forcing his beliefs on you. How the Hell is praying illegal? I'm just glad I go to private school.

I think as long as no one complains about it, they can get away with it.
I'm not saying it's legal, I'm just saying they may not have gotten caught.
And when I say 'caught', I mean that no one is complaining about it.

I heard this episode on This American Life a while back.  It made me quite angry.
In this episode the TEACHER was prosylatizing.  I think she was directing her preaching to the only Muslim girl in the class.

I don't think it is illegal as long as he has permission from the school. It's not illlegal but it is rather insensitive to members of a different religion.
