Is ceasing to exist really such a bad thing?

When it comes down to it, if we do cease to exist, there are some benefits to it all. No more worries, no more pain, no more hassle, etc. There is good to come from ceasing to exist.

I don't know if I believe in it though, perhaps there is an afterlife, perhaps we are all one. Who knows, but I do know one thing, death itself doesn't really scare me, what concerns me, is how well those that I leave behind will survive. I would rather them all be happy.

You again very well articulate a Buddhist sentiment, mainly that All Life is Suffering and that Nirvana is a release from that suffering. Not something I believe, but it is commonly held. Now if the ones you leave behind believe likewise you need not worry.

yes it is a bad thing !

i believe living without God in unholy darkness or outer darkness would be too painful for souls that are meant to live eternally.

in judgement there is spirit prsion and tarterous. there can be paradise and heaven. but if a person is stubborn not to receive it. what else is God going to do? he will resurrect the dead from hell, and send them to the lake of fire where they will have the second death and thereafter be cast out into outerdarkness.. i doubt there is even a prmise of a huge party in that place.

The only thing that sucks is that people in the future will most likely be able to read everything their ancestors wrote on the internet. Who knows, they might even figure out time travel and see our daily life right before their eyes. But for sure, they'll see our ancient Facebook updates, pointless twitter postings, stupid blog ramblings, Yahoo answers, and every other pointless thing we spent time typing. That would be a sad way for them to remember us.

This is why I don't fear death. By the time I'm dead, I won't exist to care anymore.
