what do you think will happen to Christians if NASA finds signs of life on mars?

I'm not being offensive to Christians at all. I'm talking about the ignorant Christians that think the Earth is like 6000-10,000 years or whatever they believe, and even with facts thrown in their face they deny it! Intelligent Christians will be able to cope with it and keep their religion but what about the other ones? Once again i say i have nothing against rational Christians just the ones that are retarded. (and calling them retarded is just being nice)

I really don't see life on Mars as any great revelation to anyone. I am sure certain folks will want to conflate it to profound implications either cosmologically or religiously but ultimately I will consider it a pretty mundane discovery that doesn't prove much of anything about anything but our solar system.

I might say that microbial lifestyles is a likelihood of life, and whilst that every one that's grand and just right, thus far the Earth is the only planet with sustained, clever lifestyles. Microbial life is a some distance throw from what we're at present. Rather honestly, finding the proof of former life on a useless planet best proves that the Earth is even more detailed. Simply since whatever will not be stated within the Bible does not mean it ceases to exist. That is an awfully slim minded mind-set. Both manner, God creating non-sentient lifestyles in other places does not disprove His existence or show His existence. It most effective states the same thing dinosaur fossils do: inconclusive proof for either or.

I would say that microbial existence is a likelihood of existence, and at the same time that each one that's grand and excellent, to this point the Earth is the one planet with sustained, intelligent life. Microbial life is a a ways throw from what we're today. Fairly actually, finding the proof of former lifestyles on a lifeless planet best proves that the Earth is much more detailed. Just in view that something just isn't recounted within the Bible does no longer imply it ceases to exist. That's a very narrow minded mind-set. Either way, God growing non-sentient existence elsewhere does not disprove His existence or show His existence. It best states the same factor dinosaur fossils do: inconclusive proof for either or.

As a Christian, I believe we as a religion are arrogant and mean. I'm very sorry to have this opinion over all, and I do know there are many exceptions.

Who are we to say that humans are the ONLY "intelligent" life in this universe? If God thought to make us, then why WOULDN'T he want to see what other kinds of intelligent life he can make?

I find it very amusing that (most) Christians jump up and yell when this subject is brought up... we are it!!! That's all!!! Others are blasphemers!!! etc. Amazing!

It's exactly how it is (was) when Christians "discovered" other lands, and forced their beliefs on them, along with disease they carried! Who is really to say that God ONLY listens to Christians? Who knows what God looks like? Could he not be the other forms that people worship?

Anyway, I figure Christians will poo poo it away, quote scripture, bible thump, say we are all damned. I won't. I'll be thinking... WOW!!! God sure is busy all over this universe!!! I hope the other life forms are more loving and accepting than we are! lol

    Have a wonderful day!

Don't underestimate the capacity of Young Earth Creationists for self-delusion. They are able to ignore the literal mountains of evidence on Earth, why should Mars make any difference to them?

A lot of Christians do believe in science and the possibility of life elsewhere in the universe. I think you are referring to Evangelicals, the die-hard Bible followers :P

I'm not sure what would happen to the Evangelicals. It would be interesting to see.

They'll wave their hands and dismiss the findings, as usual.

You see, their willful ignorance allows them to find any amount of excuses, lies and BS to divert reality and keep them on track with their delusions.

We already know that the conditions for life exist on Mars. Curiosity has found the basic building blocks of life, the JPL scientists are simply making sure that they haven't made a mistake.

So this christian god created other planets,so we can admirate their beauty? makes no sense to me...of course there is life outside the earth, maybe not mars, but other planets.

  • They'll blame it on the Devil.

Obviously, the Devil flew to mars before anyone even had telescopes and he planted fake evidence everywhere.

Find ways to dismiss or discredit the findings, or find ways to accommodate the findings within their belief system. As in, "This just shows how great god is after-all."
