I hear knocking at night and it's creeping me out?
I feel like an idiot asking this. I also do not believe in the 'paranormal' so to speak. But last night something happened a couple times that scared the crap out of me.
I was raised by my maternal grandparents. My grandma died two years and since the University I was going to was only a twenty minute drive, I volunteered to stay with my grandpa who needed some help doing things. I was with him almost every day for the past two years. He passed away Wednesday, which is something he had been longing for as he wanted to be back with my grandma.
I'm still at his house taking care of it until September when I go on for either seminary or grad school. The house is outside of town and the nearest neighbor is a mile away.
Last night though, as I was trying to sleep, I heard very distinctly someone knocking. It was about 1 am and I couldn't figure who would be here at that hour. I looked around, there was no one there, there was no car besides mine. So I went to lay back down and about twenty minuets later I heard it again, I repeated my earlier actions and again saw nothing.
Now, I've never been one to believe in ghosts and all that, but this have me rather freaked out. For those who know this stuff or studied it, what do you think is going on? Over imagination? One of my grandparents trying to tell me something? Something worse? I've considered calling my priest to ask him bless the house and see if that would help.
I know I sound like I'm nuts, so if you want to spam, please do it some where else.
Eric: It was at the front door, which the window in my bedroom looks out to. I looked through it and I didn't see anyone. I got out up and looked around and didn't see anyone. I don't know if it could be kids because frankly, there are none around. It's mainly older people, and again, the nearest house is about a mile away. The exception is my brother and sister in law who live about 2 miles away, and they don't have any kids and my brother is in Ohio for work at the moment, I could see him doing it though if he had been here, but he left Monday morning.
Nothing: Yes, he died in the house. As did my grandma. My grandma passed away one morning sitting on the couch, she had got up to make the coffee and stuff and sat down and fell asleep. She had a stroke at some point and passed away.
My grandpa, who was more or less planted in the living room (he even usually slept in a recliner) also died in there, but he was in a hospital bed.

I dont know if I can answer your question or not, but I have experienced similar thing very recently. It would be hard for me to believe if I did not have it by myself.
The tv in our bed room turned on by itself during the night 3 times! Finally we ended up by pulling off the plug in order to be able to continue to sleep.
This happened on the night of the Wake of my husband's ex wife, and the next day was the funeral day!
By all means, I believe that there is no harm, maybe the spirit was just trying to tell us something.

First thing you are not mad second thing did your grandpa die in the house if so sweet heart the house is defaintly haunted by your grandpa or somethin else and when you move around the house you feel something heavy is on your chest and you feel like your being followed by something as your walking around the house especially aafter sunset in a few minutes.
All you need to do get a prest to bless the house and always read the bible and read prayers before you sleep it will help
or just get out of the house :)

As the components of a house change temperature (for example, as they cool overnight), they expand or contract. Different components expand or contract at different rates. Copper changes size much more than wood, for example. When you run the hot water, you may hear a knocking sound as the pipes expand and reposition themselves in the holes in the wooden supports.
There could also be animals in the attic - birds and squirrels are the most common, but bigger things are possible.
If you want to spend a lot of time satisfying your curiosity, you can stay awake and try to pinpoint the source of the sound.
Harry Houdini debunked mystics and spiritualism. Google can point you to some interesting reading.

"Now, I've never been one to believe in ghosts and all that, but this have me rather freaked out. For those who know this stuff or studied it, what do you think is going on?"
Get a dog. See if it responds to this sound.
"Over imagination? One of my grandparents trying to tell me something?"
More than likely something you want to tell yourself, involving your grandparents.
"Something worse?"
Worse than believing in an afterlife (priest), and then acting like there is no afterlife.
"I'm still at his house taking care of it until September when I go on for either seminary or grad school. "
Why do you feel it is his house? He is dead. It belongs to his heirs, or the state.
"I've considered calling my priest to ask him bless the house and see if that would help."
Why don't you call the one knocking, and tell them it is your house until September, and to call back then.

Was the knocking at your door or wall?
It could just be a couple of crazy kids playing a prank by knock-ditching you. Or maybe someone in another apartment is knocking on your wall to be funny.
So no, it probably ISN'T anything paranormal. Don't worry about it, even if it continues to go on for a while. If it continues for like a MONTH, THEN I would start to worry.
Good luck with your situation and hope it stop

I'd like to think you were paranoid. Sometimes, I hear things too that aren't actually happening. Oh btw, dead people don't and can't come back... It's not your grandpa or grandma :)

It was probably a demon trying to scare you.
