Can I sue my landlord for my move in rent back?

I moved into an apartment three months ago and the 2nd night I woke to the police looking for my downstairs neighbor. I mean lots of police. They had the house surrounded. From my understanding this is on going. I have only had constant problems with loud music and fire engines because the neighbors lights were turned off and she was using one hallway plug for all the house appliances. The last straw was yesterday when the music was so loud I asked the landlord to speak with them, instead he called the police and after they left they ( downstairs) came up and knocked stating we called the police and they started with threats( how he just got out of prison from doing 5 years) it was very scary. They said the police told him I called them. I think the landlord said this to the officer. Can I sue the landlord to get my rents back for the months I have been here so I can move to a safer environment. The front doors have no locks, trash is being thrown on my porch, it is so many problems. Please tell me my rights. I feel very unsafe in this building and the landlord knew all these problems existed and he still won't do anything about them. I believe he is afraid of the guy which I don't blame him but this is to much. I am very quiet and church going and the landlord new this but wanted money, so he didn't care. What can I do?

First of all: Next time you rent you should go to your local police station and request any activity they've responded to in that area. They won't tell you the actual reasons but it will show you how often they've been called in.

Your landlord just caused a whole lot of hassle for you. I would call a lawyer and directly ask them what they think you should do. They will usually give you a free consultation. They may say talk to the landlord again or even to ride it out until the end of the lease. You may be able to get out of a lease if you or the lawyer feel you are in any danger.

Driving around the neighborhood and talking to current tenants is also a good way to figure out what kind of landlord he really is. Doing that might have saved you some hassle.

You have a right to peaceful enjoyment of unit. Landlord is NOT responsible for police activity or Fire Engines. You can sue but you will lose.

that's troublesome and varies via state. She has to produce a letter of costs via the date on the contract. Failure leads to forfeiture of preserving the deposit. She then has a volume of time to pay that deposit (in many cases 30 days). After such time, you may desire to deliver an authorized letter indicating which you won no notification of dedications from the deposit and you assume the deposit in finished in 30 days. After that, you are able to enter a small claims courtroom declare. with any luck in some months which will are available the past a decide and then, if she fails to pay, you are able to happen at courtroom back to seek for a garnishment. I did this as quickly as and won my deposit, plus courtroom costs, plus costs of my time to seek for fee. I had the quantity taken from the owner's corporation. the place you fall into hardship is which you renowned that she has advised you there'll be a cost linked with changing the carpet and bathroom. the actuality which you have been in below a three hundred and sixty 5 days shows which you probable did undesirable issues to the carpet (puppy?). good success proving those claims incorrect. As such, i could attempt to seek for an amiable answer via chatting along with her. good success, yet i think of you're out the deposit money.
