What do you think about this doctor's claim as to having seen heaven?

The neurosurgeon, Dr. Eben Alexander... if you didn't read in the news somewhat recently... claims that while in a coma he experienced what he believed to be--according to his knowledge of science and his personal memory-- heaven. He saw, heard, felt---- heaven.

From what I've read of his reasoning about this... my conclusion was, "Wow, that sounds like a really intense mescaline trip. And nothing else."

What do you think? Actual heaven, or just brain chemistry?

It's telling that in EVERY case of an NDE, the 'vision' of the afterlife exactly conformed to whatever that person's upbringing would have made them (consciously or otherwise) expect it to be like. NDEs are hallucinations caused by oxygen starvation to the brain, nothing more.

I don't know...my biggest annoyance with near death people is they always write and sell a book making tons of money which doesn't seem very Godly to me. So...I want to think it's real because it sounds so nice but at the same time, there are some pretty messed up people who will exploit others need to know answers spiritually to make a buck.

From personal experience though...I have experienced somethings that make me very confident in an afterlife...but I am not writing any books and I am a pretty sane, stay at home mom who's never done any drugs and rarely drinks..

We have absolutely no knowledge of what a person sees during an NDE, we don't even know what causes it. I won't explain why that is actually possible. Unusual and definitely rare considering most people never come back to the Physical Body.
