Differences between a skinhead and a punk?

A traditional skinhead is based off working class british youth, who cropped their hair (for work reasons) and wore the suspenders and boots cause they were working

They would listen to Reggae, and combined it with punk to form OI or ska which they would kind of dance to

Punk originated from when John lydon (johnny rotten) was in america and saw the Ramones live , he was inspired so he went back home and started a band called the sex pistols. PUNK was a movement already happening in the uk , not really in america, people already dressed and jammed to music that never really got fame but was punk, the sex pistols were just famous....... Punk goes back to Iggy pop, which goes back to the velvet underground who started making songs about drugs.

well for one thing the catagory of skins does have a lot of racists, but aside from that they dress different and listen to a lot of different bands. the generic punk weares a studded leather jacket, their pants tucked into boots, and has spiked and colored hair. The generic skin weares suspenders, their pants rolled up to show boots, a flight style coat, and has a shaved head. skinheads tend to listen to a lot more Oi! music than punks do, and some skins do not like punk rock. punks (much of the time, but not always) are more political than skins. a lot of punks and skins hate each other. being a punk, i dont mind skins unless they are racist or homophobic.

A punk is not just some guy with tattoos, shaved or mohawk hair, and nasty clothes with a bad attitude. That ain't Punk. Punk is in your heart, it doesn't matter if your a millionair or a homeless person, you can be Punk Rock. It's the feeling that you don't take no nonsense from anyone.

Skinheads are usually some teenage loser who blames the world for his shortcomings, and those people just hide in the imagery of Punk Rock, but they are just flies in the vasiline.

Way back a lot of punk was racist back in the late 70s most thought that way and you would see Swastikas hanging in most of their bedrooms or flats if they lived on there own. So don't say a lot of Punk was not racist, because it was at one time.
