I just had Charter Internet installed 2 weeks ago. Every morning the internet is "down".?

A guy is coming out this afternoon, and once again, it is up and running after 9 am. This is getting old fast! Any reason this would happen day after day? I've tried just leaving the computer in sleep mode, shutting it down completely, and then just leaving it on. The internet modem they supplied (used and dirty) stays on 24/7. I don't understand how every morning before work, I can't log into my email, check my online calendar or use my tablet or pc for internet. Any help would be deeply appreciated!

    Hello Tippy’s Mom,

My name is Steve Creameans, and I am a Senior Social Media Specialist with Charter. I can certainly understand why this would be frustrating and would like to offer the following steps for a solution. If you are currently using a router behind your modem, please bypass it and connect directly to your modem. Power cycle all devices by unplugging them from power for at least 30 seconds and then restore power. Verify you can surf the web with the machine directly connected to your modem and then test it the following morning. If it works without issue I would suggest trouble shooting your router with the device manufacturer. You can also perform the steps outlined in this link with your modem and router connected http://bit.ly/forcerelease . If you continue to have trouble after these steps, and the visit by our technician, feel free to contact our team using any of the methods listed on our team web page at http://www.charter.com/Umatter2Charter. If you choose to send us an email, please put “Attn CharterSteve – Tippy’s Mom – Yahoo!” in the subject line.

    Thank you,

    Steve Creameans

Charter is the worst there is for internet. I have it also, and unless I want to sell my house and move, I have no alternative. Their HD TV is sometimes just as bad.

There's not much you can do aside from shopping for another provider. In my case, Charter owns this area. No one else can come in here and provide the same services. We are stuck with it. It has improved over the years, but it's no where near adequate.
