I am NEVER hungry in mornings?

Whether I eat something right before I go to bed, or if I eat something 6 hours before I go to bed, I am just not hungry whenever I wake up. It doesn't matter when I go to sleep and wake up. I can go to sleep at 6pm and wake up at 11 am and still not be hungry. Or I can go to sleep starving and wake up not hungry. For example, yesterday the last thing I ate for the entire day was around 4 pm (I ate a bit too much though). I did an insanity workout at around 8 pm (my schedule is thrown off a bit sometimes due to school. I normally do my workouts early in the mornings). Then, I went to bed at about 10:30. I woke up at 5:45 and ate 1/4 of a bagel, waited 20 mins, and did a 60 minute insanity workout. Took a shower, got ready and everything. I still wasnt hungry! I only ate the bagel for some fuel, I wasnt hungry for it though... why is it that by breakfast time I am never hungry?! It just doesnt matter what I do. I still eat a good healthy breakfast regardless of my hunger though. I just wish I was actually hungry...

Update:

I will never not eat lol, especially for breakfast, because I know thats stupid and bad

Update 2:

@Alice wow, all of the foods you wanted me to eat are what I already eat on pretty much a daily basis ... lol.... except I dont use dressing or cheeses, I drink coconut or almond milk, rarely eat oatmeal, no popcorn or raisins. Also... I never eat bagels, just so you know. ONLY for preworkout, and when I do, its barely any. Right now I only am just to get rid of them. I know they arent great, I dont eat them except for this.

I'm the same way, so I guess that normal. I usually have my first meal at 12 or 1 pm and my last meal at 7 pm. I just make up for it by eating healthy brunch or snack on fruits or vegs in the morning.

Because when you starve yourself, your stomach also shrinks and as with all sensory perceptions when you constantly bombard it with the same impulses it dulls the senses. Just like with a constant droning noise, your mind tunes it out.

You did the right thing in eating something even when not hungry. You did not know it, but doing this prevents you from overeating for the rest of the day. When people skip breakfast, they are much more likely to binge during lunch and/or dinner.

Don't worry about not being hungry. But if it nags at you too much, you might consider taking a folic acid supplement around dinner time - most people find that it gives them an appetite. Just don't go overboard because it is never a good thing to get too much of anything.

  • If you look into food habits and eating in history- you will find that people did not get up

and eat breakfast. They started doing this in the Industrial Revolution where people

had to work early and would not be able to keep up the work unless they had breakfast.

Prior to this - many people ate their first meal at noon and that was the main meal for the day.

So waking up and not hungry- you are not hungry- the body does like regular things tho

and has to have enough protein for your size ( google that) and the variety of of foods

to run right. Don't feel forced onto a made up schedule.

I think you are eating the wrong foods at different times of the day.

Stop eating bagels. They have nothing good to offer you.

Instead, when you get up, eat a half cup of yogurt with half a sliced banana, then do your workout. After that, have a small veggie omelet, with or without cheese, but with lots of veggies. For lunch, eat a good sized salad with protein (grilled meat, etc.), light on the cheeses and dressing. Take a piece of fruit for a snack, plus maybe a small bag of unsalted nuts. I like almonds.

For supper, have some steamed veggies and a baked potato, or a serving or rice pilaf, a little protein in the form of a vegetarian combination or meat used mostly as a flavor addition, as in a stir fry. I don't like to eat a lot of meat for supper.

In the evening, have a small bowl of cereal with skim milk, or some cooked oatmeal with raisins, or seasoned popcorn (microwave type is nasty, skip it if that is the only kind you know how to make) or low salt whole grain pretzels.

Supplement if you need more calories, but keep the basic format of lots of veggies, a good amount of fruit, protein in the mornings and carbs in the evenings. Keep track of calories, fat and protein and drink plenty of water, not soda, sports drinks or juices.

See how that works for you.

Additional Details: Oatmeal is awesome, because it is a whole grain and has lots of B vitamins. According to Wikipedia, "Rolled oats have long been a staple of many athletes' diets, especially weight trainers, because of its high content of complex carbohydrates and water-soluble fibre that encourages slow digestion and stabilizes blood-glucose levels." I eat raisins for the iron content, more B vitamins and other health benefits: http://www.organicfacts.net/health-benefits/fruit/... If you dislike them, as some people do, you can substitute other dried fruits.

The important part to remember is protein and fat in the mornings, carbs at night to help you sleep well, keeping in mind that white flour is your enemy. Sounds like you are doing OK, though.

That's exactly what I was going to answer with. Just eat anyway or you'll suffer.

Hunger is often not a response to an empty stomach, but a response to a drop in blood sugar. Are you drinking sugary drinks, even if you're not eating? If your digestion is otherwise normal, maybe you need to have your blood glucose tested to make sure you are in a the normal range.

You have to eat mate, even if your body doesn't feel like it it will need it later on. Plus if you just don't eat, it can cause you to lose an unhealthy amount of weight.
