What size ape hangers for me?
Basically i've been doing some research into ape hangers for motorcycles and from what i have personally found most people use 14s or 16s. Although sizes vary alot from 12 to 18. What i wanted to ask is will my height affect my choice? I think i already know the answer as in yes, but for a shorter male adult anywhere from the range of 5ft 4 to 5ft 9 which would suit? I know it can vary on the bike i was thinking 14s? Just to be clear i am looking for fairly high bars so it keeps my back straight. Thanks for your time. (Yes i know the type of bike will also need to be taken into account but in general what would be recommended)

Your height is irrelevant. It's your reach (the length of your arms) that's important.
No-one here can work that out for you. Only you know what feels comfortable, when you're sat on the bike.

Before clicking your question I already knew what thesebanswers were gonna be like lol. Although I find ape hangers to be uncomfortable and stupid looking I try not to let my opinion affect my suggestions.
But really all I can suggest is that you find a bobber/chopper/whatever your style of bike is considered type of forum to ask this question because if you ask yahoo this is all youre gonna get for answers lol. Ask it there and you might have a better chance of getting suggestions from other riders your size.

A high dollar chopper with tall ape hangers can look very cool sitting there on display. Everyone look like a total *** who rides down the street in crucifix position and the control of the bike goes down the toilet. Do you want a bike to look at parked, or do you want a bike to ride?

Both Nightwrath and Dimo J are correct. Height doesn't matter, your reach does. If possible, fabricate yourself a couple of demo pairs in different heights, not just to see if the height is OK for you, but also on turning. A couple of slow runs in front of your house will tell you immediately if the fit it right, obviously don't take it out on the road to test them! Once you do decide on size and install them, practice riding with them for quite a bit, they do handle differently.
And ignore the naysayers, it's your bike, you paid for it, buy what you want for it. Best of luck.

Useless bars that completely muck up the steering dynamics (counter steering) of a motorcycle.

Screw style, comfort trumps. Sit on the bike, eyes closed, hold your hands forward and think where your are comfort. Close your eyes, look at where your hands are and what handlebars do you need to match.
Me, on my Savage, I needed a 10" mini-ape. See what you need.

My thoughts are instead of just buying them fab a s et for different sizes and buy the most comfortable ones for you.

Just think of the amount of leverage and control you want to give up, and raise the bars accordingly.
