  • How much would a frame for a 60s or 70s Harley cost?

I have recently discovered I have a few parts of a 60s or 70s Harely. I know there are several diferent models of Harely available but I'm not after anything specific. This is what I have found so far. The seat, handle bars, and a fender. I also have a box full of a mix of pan and shovel head engine parts. I am into restoring classic cars and so I was thinking of building a bike using spare car parts to reflect on my personality and hobby. I have a tail light off a 1940 Pontiac and I have a headlight for a 30s chevy truck. (the kind that sits above the fender) the car tail lights and factory Harely tail lights are not very deferent in looks so I think it will fit. I'm thinking of using several other car parts too. I can make all the brackets I need but I don't know how much an engine or fame cost.

By the way if your wondering why I did not know I have had these parts it because they have been in the loft of my barn since before I was born.

  • How much should I pay for an earlythe mid 90s mongoose BMX with the signature rear fork?

I'm looking for one that is in decent shape and probably needs minor work. My curent mongoose is to small for me but I found it extremely comfortable. Would a bike shop sell anything that old? I have found that have the old mongoose style handbars and seats are great but they just dont feel right.

  • Another mountain bike question different bike?

Ok I was riding my other mountain bike and tried to up shift it on the front gears and it is nothing. I looked at it and saw the derailleur was about a 1-4 inch below the 3rd gear so my chain is hovering on the first and the derailleur would just grind on the gear if I tried to go into 3rd. Normally this would not be a problem but the rear shifter is having a similar problem by not going into one so I don't know how to avoid crossing my chain for this adjustment. Am I better off taking this to a bike shop or figuring out how to take it apart and fix it myself. My main problem is the rear derailleur.

  • Problem with my mongoose mountain bike?

I have an 09 or 10 mongoose mountain bike blackcomb. It has Shimano disk brakes and shifters. All of this the cable type. The shifters and brake handles are built in as one unit. I was riding it and I noticed that when I bring it into the 7th speed it goes into it for a few second then goes on the the 8th. I don't believe it has ever even engaged the 7th speed because 8th felt normal. Unfortunately I have only noticed this after my Walmart (the main issue I believe) warranty is out. I want to change everything in the shifter and gearing to a better setup. The frame is good and I ride normally off road type stuff. This thing has seen more than most Walmart mountain bikes will ever see when it comes to off road use. It has practically ridden down professional trails even though it on privat property. If ridding up and down steep hills in trees where it just fits between them. In other words what I really need is a cross between a mountain bike and a BMX bike but they make nothing I am aware of. Also do any of you know where I can get some pads for may breaks.

  • Question about driving old vehicles?

I have a 1947 chevy pickup with the original 4 speed transmission. I know this is the last year for the fully unsyncronized transmission. I undertake how to shift it and all of the basics on driving it. My question is is there a special licence to drive anything with that type of transmission.

  • Where to start on customizing my 97 Honda civic LX?

I'm thinking of turning my Honda into a drag car. Not something to compeat with mussel cars but other other cars that are capable of 120+mph. I know to start small but I'm not sure how small. Should I start with a chip or something mechanical? It's tempting to try and convert it to a dohc but that will mess with my timing. A friend has told me to go with exhaust but I'm not so sure that it will make that much difference or what the optimum size is for speed. This is my daily driver so I want it to remain street legal but be powerful enough for drag strips so it's not going to be over powered.

  • what are some cheap things i can do to make a 1997 Honda civic faster?

I have the ability to make my own cold air intake and all it will cost is a new filter. what are some other things i can do to help it without removing the interior. I don't plan on getting fancy because it would cost more than the car is worth. Every fender on the car has a dent and the center of the roof forms a nice puddle even though you don't see a dent. I'm on a $200 budget so I am very limited.

  • How fast should a 93 procraft go with a 15 HP engine on the back.?

I have a 93 procraft V-180C outboard bass and ski boat. I had it on the water for the firts time last weekend. It was real sluggish at first then suddenly it started moving faster after being run for about 20 minutes. The boat has been sitting since at least 2006 because the flore was rotted away. So I got the boat last summer and rebuilt the lower deck, regained it and modified it to be slightly lighter. When I had it on the water it only would reach 30mph. I have not done anything to the engine yet so I do know I need to replace a few things like the water pump and I really need to tune the carbs because it's backfiring a little. On land this works perfectly fine with ear muffs on the engine but actualy moving the boat around seams to be a struggle for it. This is the smallest engine available for it but it seams to be to small. I'm sure the carbs need cleaned and I can't find the air filter. It's a 115 HP outboard mercury engine by the way. I know my 76 7.5 HP tuckumpsy engine has no air filter on it so I'm beginning to wonder if any outboard boat engines do. My question is besides cleaning the carb and finding out if the thing has an air filter on it what do I need to check that might help it gain some power.

  • Is my boat worth restoring?

I have a 69 sea ray boat. The seats are back to back and on one rail. At the very back of the boat the hull forms into a configuration so you can sit on eather side of the engine. If I look under the dash I can see the gas tank and all the way to the end of the bow. The capacity plate says the boat is made for 6 people with 150 lbs for each person. The engine capacity is for a 130 hp engine. The total weight it can handle is 2460 lbs. it has no engine on it I can't turn the stearing wheel and it needs a new flore badly. I think would need to replace the structural boards under the flore and reform it because its like walking on a sponge. It has an AM/FM radio. I have not measured the dement ions of the hull but its a large one. It would also need a little repair in the bow where it has cracked. I can do the fiberglass work but idk if its worth it.

  • Sending in old cb radio transceiver in for repair.?

I have an old cb radio transceiver that I do not know much about. I think it's a president grant or Jackson but I'm not sure. The identifying writing is worn away so I can't tell. I know this was a good radio when it was new but now it does not work. Where can I send it in for repair in MO? I know both the grant and Jackson radios are popular today but I have no idea what it's going to cost for me to have it repaired.

  • Do I need a license to own broadcasting equipment?

I'm thinking about buying a CB radio witch I know I don't need a license for. The one I'm looking at is also able to broadcast on regular radio stations. Now I know you need a license to run a radio channel. However is simply owning the equipment for it. The reason I want this one is for the added range because I spend a lot of time in the car and it's always handy to have when your going through 3 states with two pickups hauling stuff in the back. So is simply owning this CB enugh for me to need a license?

  • Restoring a WW2 USA paratrooper flashlight?

I got this lightfor $10. It has an elbow at the top so the light shines off to one side instead of being a strait toob. It's compleatly made of steel and is really rusty on the inside. I don't have the equipment to remove the rust and even if I did I would be really worried about ruining the inside. Is there anybody I can take the light to who might fix it? On the elbow there is a circle with TL-122-A on the side. Off the back there is a thing so it can be mounted on your pocket. The base has a ring like thig that pops out that I asume is for runing your belt through. It also has

    refill with SLALIGHT batteries

    -------------------------------------

    USAlight

    =========================

    made in USA U.S. Electric

    MFC. Corp

The switch is made of brass and there is a button above it as was comon for design back then. The problem I am having is it won't work. The bulb is fine I placed it in a diferent flashlight and the thing lit up without me using the switch at all. When I did it just stayed on. When I placed new batteries into this light though I could not get it to light at all. No matter where of the 3 positions the switch was in it just won't work. It was a little seized when I first got it and had to play with the switch for some time before it was where it needed to be so I know it was very rusty right there.

  • Where might I find a frame for a Colt 1911?

I have been looking into this for some time and have not found a Colt frame at all. Everyone tells me Caspian makes Colt's frames but I don't see the logic in having a different company produce part of your product. I understand you can use Caspian frames to make a mostly Colt 1911 but I want a true Colt if I can get all the parts. I know a guy who will teach me to build this gun if I get the parts. I already have the grips but I'm still looking for a frame. Everything ells is not going to be to hard for me to get.

  • Is it legal to build your own military style tank?

I'm not really sure about how I should word my question. You see I have access to the lower half of a bulldozer. I know tanks use the same parts but they are slightly different. So my thoughs are is building a WW2 style US tank. I have the engine that the US military used. (chevy 216 also used in the chevy cars and trucks untill 1954) my thoughts are to save the tracks and build everything from scratch. I understand your not supposed to have a canon on it but I'm not sure about a replica canon. Also I don't intend to ever hit the road with this tank. The only issue I think I would run into on the legality of my own tank is the government would have no record of it like they would for those people who restore tanks. I only want this thing because I thought it would be a different way to get to the lake and river on my property when it snows because that's a long walk and I don't have much to drive.. Also I thought it would be entertaining to knock down an old house I have that you cannot possibly live in becauseits crumbling and real easy to fall through the flore. I figure runing a tank through it while recording the destruction and posting it on YouTube would be cool. I suppose what I'm asking is, is it legal the build a tank the way I want to do it?

  • How good is a 22 AR-15?

With this shooting in Connecticut I thought it would be a good idea to ask about this before they try legislation on them. I have an assortment of parts and I am just missing a few things. I hunt squirrel and rabbit with an old 22 bolt action. The problem is that I got the gun after it's prime time and I have worn it down to a point that it is falling apart. I'm wondering how good a 22 AR-15 is for squirrel primarily. Are good for being in the brush shooting at squirrel? How well do they hold there accuracy? And would I be better off getting a regular 22 semi-automatic?

I know lot of you are going to say pick the one that feels most comfortable to me but both are very comfortable. I have never shot an AR-15 in my life but I have healed them in my local gun shop.

Also are there any advantages of an AR-15 over a regular long rifle?
