what are some cheap things i can do to make a 1997 Honda civic faster?
I have the ability to make my own cold air intake and all it will cost is a new filter. what are some other things i can do to help it without removing the interior. I don't plan on getting fancy because it would cost more than the car is worth. Every fender on the car has a dent and the center of the roof forms a nice puddle even though you don't see a dent. I'm on a $200 budget so I am very limited.

1. cold air intakes do not increase power - the majority of them hurt performance
2. speed costs money, there is nothing you can do for $200 that will significantly increase power
3. use the money to do proper maintenance so you have a reliable vehicle.

Faster don't come cheap bro. To get gains that you can feel, you need at least 8K to get 100HP or more. Street legal cold air intakes, headers & exhaust cost more then an arm & a leg. And in the end you only end up with an extra 20-25HP.

BalloonR is right - the CAI will just ruin your overall performance. The car is an old Civic - just love it for what it is and enjoy the handling. Save your money from those gimmicky performance enhancers that do nothing.
