What does this equation look like?!?!?!?!?

Y=af[k(x-d)]+c

I am doing a math project about parent functions and transformations. I know what the transformations are, (a is a vertical stretch or compression, k is a horizontal stretch or compression, d is a horizontal translation and c is a vertical translation). I have typed this equation into winplot and it gives me a horizontal line along the x-axis. I thought it was a parabola or something. PLEASE HELP!!!

Thank you that is really helpful so can I use 1/X abs X and the square root of X as parent functions also?

    The translated/stretched function appearance depends on the original function appearance. Most plotting routines require numeric values. If you have not provided numbers for a, c, d, k, and an expression for f(x), Winplot cannot plot anything meaningful for you. (Apparently, the default for f(x) is f(x)=0.)

    Suppose you choose

    .. f(x) = x^2

    .. a = 2, c = 3, d = 4, k = 5

    Winplot can give you the picture at the source link.
