Does the I pod Touch (5th Gen) require a data plan?

I'm thinking about getting the IPod 5th Generation for Christmas, i really want to know if it requires a data plan

    Nope. It only connects via WiFi.

    There is no cellular circuitry inside any of the iPod touch models.
