Legal actions against my university?

I am a former student at a University, and the school is trying to have me foot a bill that is incorrect. The charge was created when I dropped a class I signed up for, all within the refund period, and the charge was not actually adjusted off. Their records show I dropped the class within the period, yet they still want my money.

I am obviously not happy, and they keep sending me letters that I need to pay the bill off. When I tried to contact them, they seemed to understand, but no action was done.

Is there some kind of legal action I can take against the school?

Update:

I never actually took the class, it was dropped before the class even started.

Yes, you should sue for 1.8 million for the pain and suffering caused to you by the school actually wanting its money from a student who took and dropped a class after they realized it was too hard to pass. How dare that school expect students to actually pay, what is wrong with this country????

Go to the university in person and go to whatever office deals with finances and tell them your problem and don't leave until you have physical proof that the charges have been dropped.

You cant take any criminal action based upon what you have advised us. basically component u can do is pay the money for the dorm and then flow out yet which could be massive waste of you cash. merely stay there and stick it out legally you cant get out of the contract till you injury it and pay the money.
