Ryan/Andrew – I think you should both calm down – or maybe you should both replace your fishing rods with handbags!
I’ve had a look at both reels and I don’t think that either of them is quite right for you. Firstly, if you intend fishing for carp you are best off with a bait runner/free-spool facility (or whatever else you want to call it). Neither of these reels has that. Secondly you want a reel that has at least a moderate line capacity. Using heavier lines (as you will do for carp) a spool fills up very quickly. The advertisements don’t say what the capacity is for either reel, but from the pictures neither looks as if it has much capacity and any reel that is described as a match reel will be small.
I realise that you are on a budget but I genuinely think you need to go very slightly up-market. If you don’t you’ll only end up replacing what you buy very quickly when you realise the shortcomings of what you have. I’ve had a look around keeping cost in mind and found these:

I looked at both links and get the 2nd one.....and I like fishing for Carp in the Summer in the Tuscarawas River which is near me...I use a fly rod and a tiny brown/black tail nymph and there lot's of fun until the weekends when I go up North and fish the Rocky, Chagrin, and Grand Rivers for smallmouth....and when the rivers are to muddy I head to Wooster Ohio for Trout fishing......In my opinion and others who fly fish Carp are the hardest to catch and much smarter than Bass or Trout.

Dono but I do know that bottom feeders like carp are full of Toxics and other chemitals bacause thay eat off the botton and the toxics and cemitals are more on the bottom than abouve in the water column . I'M not saying you dont get toxins from fish . But not as much of them from topwater fish . I don't fish in LK, Rivers , ponds or spreams that are polluted ...you can get info from your fish and laks DNR office .. A good reel is a (Shimano brand ) reel spinning or bate casting.. Fish ON

I would go with one of the TFG smaller baitrunner reels like this. I dont like Dragoncarp gear very much.

This way the reels will be more adaptable to a range of methods.
Enjoy your fishing, this is not the place for all the bitching over types of fishing. Each to their own its all great fun.

Lol hahah. Dude did you just curse of chimp dancer a SALTWATER fisherman for catching bass which are way better then stupid carp. You know what we do with your shitty carp in America? I dont think you relize bass fight harder then carp and are harder to catch. Plus we have all your species here bass and pike...oh wait thats it.
Edit-What lol! Haha thats a good one come catch a bass lol. Its not that easy.
Edif 2:You arnt a biologist are you? Your spelling is horrible and you think every cast gets a fish here. Sure colors, vibration, and movement of the lure dont matter. I mean bass fishing is only a multi million doller industry. Most of which comes from the show bass masters which pays people to catch the biggest bass.
Source(s): Why would you call carp fishing real fishing? We have all your fish species in America and way more. Well we have atleast your ones worth catching.
