A question for trinity believers...?

If Jesus and his Father are both co-eternal and co-equal, wouldn't that make them more like twin brothers rather than a father and son who are obviously of different ages and abilities?

    Excellent point!

If God and Jesus both always existed and are co-equal, then it would make no sense for the Bible to confusingly speak of God and Jesus in terms of a relationship between a father and his son. For what would we think of about ANY father and his son? If it weren't for the father, the son would not exist.

Jesus is not God...he is exactly as the Bible describes him - the Son *OF* God.

The word "son" principally is regarded in the Bible as "offspring" and in Genesis we read that Adam was produced by God. Interestingly, Adam and Jesus even shared the same description: "son of God". (Luke 3:38)

While the Father is always found in the Bible to be called "God", the phrase "God the Son" is never found. Further, if the Son really was God, then why would he call the Father "the only true God"? (John 17:1-3)

Jesus is God's "only-begotten" son...the only being directly created by God. (John 1:18)

Rev. 3:14 says that Jesus is "the Beginning of the creation of God". NASB

Col. 1:15 says that Jesus is "the FIRSTBORN of all creation".

Micah 5:2 says that Jesus' "*ORIGIN* is from of old, from ancient days" - RSV, cf. JB, NEB, REB, NAB, NIV, AT, Mo, NRSV, NJB, Byington, and Young's.)

(Origin: "a coming into existence" - Webster's New World Dictionary, 1973.)

Therefore, because of the Bible's explanations of this, the designations "Father" and "Son" when attributed to God and Jesus make sense.

They are certainly not like a father and son who are obviously of different ages and abilities.

They are like a father and son who seem more like brothers rather than like father and son.

  • Think of this as a human son being a part of his human father.

Both father and son have the holy spirit inside of them.

Jesus and God have the same idea.

No, they are equally "old" for one thing.

John 1:1 - 3 - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

The same was in the beginning with God.

All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

Revelation 1:1,8 - The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant

I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

Notice the changing in between "Lord", and "Almighty"? Both are titles used for God in the Bible, yet are given to Jesus Christ here...the two are indeed one and add the Spirit of God into the mix to form the Godhead which is what God calls the relationship between the thee distinct essences.

Romans 1:20 -For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

Colossians 2:6-10 - As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:

Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

1 John 5:6-8 - This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.

For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.

Check the King James Version Bible book of Hebrews, especailly Hebrews 1, about who Jesus Christ is. God the Father calls Jesus Christ God there.

The Holy Bible, Hebrews 1:5-9 ---

"5 For to which of the angels did God ever say,“You are my Son; today I have become your Father”? Or again,“I will be his Father, and he will be my Son” 6 And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says,“Let all God’s angels worship him.” 7 In speaking of the angels he says, “He makes his angels spirits, and his servants flames of fire.” 8 But about the Son he says,

“Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.

9 You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.”

God the Father made His Son have dominion over heaven and earth and Jesus will come back to judge the living and the dead. Only God can judge the living and the dead at the end of the world.

God the Father, Jesus Christ God's Son, and God's Holy Spirit are one in divinity and one in mind. The Holy Bible, 2 Tim. 4:1-3 (a) --

"4 In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: 2 Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. 3 For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. "

Sounds like you need to be reading from the right Bible, throw the JW Bible out, and get to a traditional Christian church and get baptized there so you can go to heaven forever when you die someday. This is the Christian way -- In life it's important to know God as a Christian so you can pray about your life daily and God can help you live your life right. Plus, as a Christian, you can go to heaven forever when you die someday, if you are faithfully following Him. If you don't follow God in your life, you end up in hell, a very bad place of suffering. Praying the prayer below will make you a Christian. This is how to know God -- the basic Christian message and prayer --- you need to accept God's Son, Jesus Christ, into your life to be a Christian and follow God's ways so you can receive God's guidance in your life and get to heaven after you die. Knowing God can transform your life. As God is love, life is primarily about love and relationships in order to have a good life. Also, you need to know God's Son, Jesus Christ, in your life as your Lord and Savior as Jesus died on the cross as payment for our sins. Having Him with you will give you God's blessing and forgiveness, as you live God's way. There is an important prayer to pray to become a Christian. This prayer should be said with faith in God and a sincere heart:

"Dear God, I know that I am a sinful person and I don't want to be like this anymore. I know that Jesus Christ died on the cross as payment for our sins, and I want to accept Jesus Christ into my life as my Lord and Savior so I can receive God's forgiveness, guidance, and go to heaven someday. Thank you, dear God, for your mercy and guidance; in Jesus' name. Amen."

This prayer can take you to a new place in your relationship with God and transform your life. After saying this prayer, you should check out a Christian church, like Baptist or Lutheran. The church can get you baptized and prayed for, and you can pray for yourself daily.

The church can get you into their Bible study group so you can learn more about God, Jesus, and God's will for your life. The Bible is God's instruction book about how to live a God-honoring life so you can go to heaven after you die. Ways to stay connected to God's path include loving God and Jesus Christ, obeying God's ways, daily Bible reading, daily prayer for yourself and others, getting to church, having your church prayer group and/or pastor pray for you, fasting with prayer for a higher level of prayer, getting with other Christians and doing a Bible study, singing hymns to God, taking communion with the church, helping and loving others, expressing your gratitude to God for His help in your life by telling others of your progress and helping them draw closer to God too, tithing at church, volunteering at church. Continue to turn from sins and seek God's forgiveness in your life as you live your daily life. For more information about Jesus Christ, read the New Testament of the Holy Bible. God guide your life.
