we actually asked the doctor on this. he told us it is safe to have sex. but he recommended using condemns the day of and for a few days following each chemo session. it is highly highly recommended NOT to get pregnant during this time. the risk of a baby with birth defects is very high. before the doctor even started chemo with my boyfriend, he had us go to a sperm bank. chemo can ruin the chances of having a baby in a male. so they do that as a safety percussion in young men. many times they give you steroids when they do chemo. he had the funniest side effect to it.. he would kill me if he knew i was talking about this. but it would cause erections and made it interesting lol

My oncologist never said it was a problem, and he was very thorough in spelling out the effects of chemo. Generally, he encouraged me to do any activity I was able to do.

Are you just having sex, or trying to have a kid. Assuming you practice safe sex, it shouldn't be a problem. You may have an issue with performance, libido or stamina, but other than that, have fun. If you are thinking about having a kid, talk to your oncologist.

It depends on what stage of chemo your in. If your doctors didn't tell you the option was available then most likely not. Ask next time.
