Why do conservatives idolize Reagan when he decayed American from the inside out?

He turned around a recession faster than the current president, and by spending a LOT less.

Reagan saved the country. The economy was in ruins and we were facing the most powerful enemy we've ever faced. Eight years later we had the biggest economic boom of the century and the USSR was collapsing without the loss of a single American. Absolutely, the greatest job any president has ever done.

@Weise Ente- Actually the problem in the 70s was what was happening in real life was supposed to be theoretically impossible. Keynesianism says you can't have inflation and unemployment at the same time (google phillips curve) yet that's exactly what was happening (google stagflation). Carter's people were clueless as to how to fix it. Luckily, Friedman and Laffer came to the rescue. Strange that over 30 years later Obama's people are still stuck in the 70s making the same mistakes Carter did.

the amnesty was suppose to be a one time thing, the congress was suppose to tighten up the borders. Democrats didn't do it.

No felonies committed during Iran-Contra. The deal was that israel would sell spare parts to Iran and part of the money given to anti-communist rebels in Central America.

The democrats in congress led by Jim Murtha insisted we withdraw from Lebanon.

We had lower unemployment, a stronger economy and more consumer confidence under Reagan than any other president since. Including the failure we have now.

At the time, he fixed what WAS the second greatest recession in US history (next to Great Depression) caused by the liberal idol Jimmy Carter.
