at what point does it become difficult to walk in water?

I'm writing a book and I'm not sure at what point water becomes difficult to walk through. I'm thinking ankle deep would still be easy to move through.

For me, it's pretty easy, even if it's a bit slow, all the way past my waste. At that point, it starts to get harder and by the time it hits my chest, I start to float and it gets hard to walk.

Now, if you're talking more about the resistance, I'd say you can walk with no problems in water below your knees, above that it starts getting more difficult.

It becomes difficult to walk when you're out of your depth.

Any point at which the water starts trickling down your throat is a problem too.

Till the water depth reaches your chin.
