Opening my ipod early?
My grandpa is sending me an iPod for Christmas, but it comes this friday rather than on actual christmas. I know, as I have at least 14 friends whose iPods are broken or cracked because the so much as dropped it on the floor. I am worried that my family won't treat the package correctly or my dog will eat it and I will have to get it fixed. My family is notorious for having our PC fixed after three years of it collecting dusk in a corner. I am worried if it gets broken it WON'T get fixed. I also already know what it is, so I see no reason to wait till Christmas to open it. I need more reason why I should open it because my technologically disadvantaged dad will let me open the damn thing before one of my two little sisters, their many friends, my dog, my dad, or any other person throws the **** across a damn room not knowing what it is. And no, I will not trust them, as many of my things have been broken by the people listed above. Please help.
They won't let me take it out of the box, so I don't think a silicone case will help.

Wait until Christmas. It's a Christmas present. That's when it gets opened. All that stuff about your dog eating it is just nonsense. Have your parents put the box away some place safe until Christmas.

The screen on an iPod is solid glass, so they are very, very fragile. I have one myself, get a silicone case because they are shock absorbant, if you drop it the case will absorb the impact. Dont get a hard case. Keep it in your pocket whenever you arent using it. And I opened my last year like a week before Chirstmas ;)

Wait till Christmas its a Christmas gift its ment to be opened on Christmas , but if your worried about your dog or anybody touching it ask to keep it in your room or give it to your parents to keep in a safe place . hope this helps :)

You really don't want to drop it. If you are worried about it dropping/ breaking before you open it, ask to keep it in you're room until Christmas. Then, always keep it in you're pocket.
