A lord of the rings question?

The book may be fairly short but there is still an incredible amount of content in it. Enough to flesh out the movies. They cut out a colossal amount of content when they adapted The Lord of the Rings as they do with most film adaptations of books. I would assume with The Hobbit they won't be cutting out as much so they've got enough to work with. That should be a good thing.

So far as I'm aware the first two films in the trilogy will be specifically The Hobbit. The third film will mainly be filling in the gap between The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings using information from Tolkien's lesser known works.

It is my understanding that Jackson will be addressing the Necromancer and the battle with him. In the middle of the Hobbit Gandalf suddenly leaves the Dwarves and goes off to help the Elves with something. There are vague allusions made to some sort of battle with the darkness in Mirkwood. But it isn't fully addressed. In Lord of the Rings, they mention it again, but only in passing and they link the Necromancer of The Hobbit to Sauron of Lord of the Rings. I think that's what the 3rd movie will focus on.

yes that are having 3 hobbit movies. the hobbit book is quite short so they will also be adding stuff from tolkiens appdencies, notes, and otherbooks.

I'm going to miss the elves. I know they will have a few, but not like in LORT. Then again, it has been over 20 years since I read it and I may have forgotten some of it. I only remember the dark almost evil elves in the deep Forrest.

I don`t know how they will do it but I hope they don`t end up spreading it out too much.

I think they will stop the first one when there entering the woods//second one from the wood to they start going up the mountain and the third is up the mountain

I have yet to figure that out. I really hope they aren't doing it solely to milk the hell out of it, but one can only hope that they are going to be fantastic
