I own the same model Civic EX and I always run 5w-30 in the engine year-round. I have no problems even at 228k miles. Your fine using either 5w-30 or 10w-30 in that engine.

Do your engine a favor and don't use the honey oil crap please. The engine oil works fine on it's own.

3 1/2 quartz of 10w30 would be better even in winter conditions if you want to add a thicker oil anyway and wont heat up as fast if you had to make a long drive.

EDIT: Nomadd you do know Honda recommends 10w30, especially in older engines...

Why in the world would you do that? All that junk does is to make oil thicker, which is the worst thing you could do in the winter time. In fact, it's never a good idea to pour that crap into any engine.

Use the 5W30 that Honda tells you to use. Thicker oil than you need is never a good idea.

Stick with what the manufacturer says...5w-30 is good for cold conditions anyway but manufacturers advise using oil additives in any motor.

I'd recommend you get out the owners manual and put in what Honda recommends you put in it. Not ask strangers on Y!
