The highest SSI benefit is $698; it will be $710 in 2013. If anyone receives more than that they are receiving a state supplement which isn't SSI. It is a state supplement. SSI is federal. Not all states supplement SSI but California and New York state do and they have the highest supplements but then they have the highest cost of living, don't they?
If you want to know what states have supplements and how much those supplements are, you can google but you will have to google per individual state.
Some states pay their supplements directly to the individual; other states pay it to the Social Security Administration and the amount is added to the SSI check. Those states which include the supplement with the SSI check pay social security a fee for doing that. However, it is still NOT SSi - it is the state supplement.
