Does anyone know what is Robotics?

Robots are automated machines that make movements more or less like human beings or parts of human beings - they might just be an arm and hand that repeatedly picks up a part and puts it in a clamp for machining - but with programming the same arm can do a different shaped part.

A variation might be a rig that paints a car body that follows all the curves and puts uniform paint all over, unlike a system that dips the whole car or paints it like a car wash washes a car.

Robots have been made to do dangerous tasks instead of risking humans, to do ultrafine work like surgery, and extra heavy work.

One theoretical advantage of a human shaped walking robot is that it could go into spaces only humans can easily go - like a narrow hallway and walk up stairs to fight a fire, check out a bomb or confront a killer. So far there are walking robots but they can't handle messy uneven surfaces very quickly.

It is a very large field and there are kits available to learn features, limitations and programming
