You can use the "5.0L" bellhousing, clutch disc, pressure plate, clutch fork, and T5 gearbox......BUT, you will need the pre-1980 "302" flywheel. This is because "302's" thru 1979 (and all 351W's and 351 Clevelands) use a 28 oz. imbalance weight. In 1980, wwith the advent of the "5.0L" engines, this balance weight was changed to 50 oz......Failure to match the proper crank, flywheel, and harmonic dampeners will lead to a broken crankshaft. You'll need to ascertain if your flywheel uses the 10.5" (pre-86, I think) or the 11" clutch disc.

When looking for a T5...try to find a 2.95 low gear close ratio box. The 3.35 low gear, wide ratio boxes have a large RPM drop between First and Second gears.... and if you use anything lower than a 3.55 in the rear end, First gear is so low, it's practically useless.

patrick is ideal. you do not state what 12 months for all this yet see you later as you bypass all windsor you would possibly want to be high quality. you received't dissipate a transmission from 302 to 351, That answer is in basic terms stupid.

A toploader will bolt up to a small block with the correct bellhousing Lakewood makes such a bellhousing. The toplaloader is a four speed transmission with either 2.78 or 2.32 first gear and they are alot stronger than the t-5 turd
