Internet drops when I change DNS settings?

When I try to change my Dns settings on my Netgear router my internet drops and tries to re-connect it just leaves a red light when it should be green.

DNS servers i have tried 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4, 4.4.4.4, 4.4.2.2 and many more.

    Most dynamic ISP providers will not allow you to set your own DNS as you are an end user. I believe you will find those DNS servers for freebie internet have all been blocked :)
