How do I solve this algebraic system of equations with a fraction involved?

I really despise fractions and I am having a hard time solving this system of equation:

x+3y=6

1/3x+7=2

What can I do to solve this properly?

    You can start by multiplying the second equation by 3. That will get rid of the fraction. Then you'll be able to solve that equation for x:

    (1/3)x + 7 = 2

    x + 21 = 6

    x = -15

    Substituting that into the first equation, we get:

    x + 3y = 6

    -15 + 3y = 6

    3y = 21

    y = 7

    So, the solution is x = -15, y = 7. Hope that helps! :)
