To Mormons: I still think your religion is crazy...?
But compared to Jehovah's Witnesses you are positively sane! I never thought I'd ever come across a religion worse than Latter Day Saints (other than Scientology) until I began to learn about Jehovah's Witnesses, and I have to say, that these people put Mormons in a good light, they really are that bad...
Mormon kids are sent in door to door preaching for 2 years(18 months for girls)...Well count your little LDS hearts lucky because JW's do it their whole freaking lives!!!
Mormons brainwash their children into believing that con-man Joseph was a prophet who wrote the book of Mormon, but at least they have the good sense to do it in a kid friendly environment with kid friendly materials...JW children are forced to sit among the adults in their meetings for at least 2 hours at a time listening to adult subjects like homosexuality, murder, rape and everything else!
Mormon women are subordinate to men in their churches...and only men are allowed to have the "priesthood", but at least a Mormon woman has the right to stand and address the men in her church...JW's do not allow women to speak at the front of the congregation unless she is seated in a chair and doing a skit with another woman, not looking directly at the congregation. Talk about sexist!
I consider BYU to be the equivalent of the eighth circle of hell, all those unnecessary rules!! But at least Mormons are encouraged to go to college...JW's are warned that too much college education can lead them away from Jehovah, and they are instead encouraged to attend a trade school, get a job afterwards so they can do as much door to door preaching as possible!! A mind is a horrible thing to waste!
I use to think that the men running the Mormon pyramid scheme were dogmatic and didn't tolerate descent...That was until I became aware of the crazier men running the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society...Talk about mind control...Even if you leave the organization of your own free will, they will most likely invite you to what is called a "Judicial committee" (think "court of love") and even if you don't show up. they will disassociate (think excommunicate) you, meaning your family and friends still in the org can't associate with you any more! No invites to family gatherings, no visits from your parents or siblings...You don't exist to them anymore!! They do this so the person that's left will feel pressure to come back to their organization...Can you say the words "emotional blackmail"?
And if you think not being allowed to drink coffee or alcohol is a life not worth living...try living a life without Birthdays, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, 4th of July, Halloween, Valentines Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day, New Year's Day...Can't join the police force, can't join the military, can't receive blood even to save your life, can't give your child life saving blood...can't say "good luck"....and on and on and on...Yeesh!!!
Yes Mormons, even your crazy baker's hats and aprons cannot compare to the crazy that is the Jehovah's Witness religion...They are truly the worst established cult I have ever had the pleasure of learning about!!!
To Andrew: They don't actually baptize a dead body or anything like that...They get some pimpled-face teen to put on a white jumpsuit and get dunked in a baptismal font held up by 12 giant statues of bulls, in place of some dead person whose name is on a list...Many of these dead people have actually been baptized tens, sometimes hundreds of time by a myriad of pimpled-faced teenagers...
@Ammon: The lack of humor of your people is astounding!!! I do want to correct your assertion though; Mormons do not give the most to charity. Mormons give 10% of their annual income to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints...who in turn spends very little of it on charity. The fact that you get to claim tithing (which is your price of admission into your temples, and hence into the Celestial Kingdom) as charity on your tax returns doesn't make it actual charity. If you believe that the Mormon church does more charitable works than the more established churches you are blinded by your loyalty to your faith...How many hospitals, orphanages, and schools have the Catholic church built (yes the EVIL Catholic church) around the world? Their charitable works are an ocean in comparison to your one drop of water....Then there are the Episcopalians who give a much larger percentage of the monies they recieve from their congregations to actual charity (and still manage to have paid

I went to the Salt Lake Temple to baptize the dead when I was 12. It was a beautiful experience. It's not creepy at all. I felt like I was in a celestial place. The temple workers are all sweet little older people; it's like being at Disneyland (in a way). Everything is clean and pure. Now 36, I've researched many different religions; but I am still partial to LDS. Nothing makes more sense than the Restoration of Christ's true church on Earth, as well as the rituals and covenants practiced when Christ was upon the Earth. Mormons practice just like Christ set an example for us to do.

Hahaha seriously you can think our religion(Mormons) crazy, but that's ok! It is hard to believe, and you just have to have faith. And by the way that "pimpled-face teenagers" comment was kinda rude considering that I am a LDS teenager that has very few pimples..:) I have never actually heard of Jehova's Witness before, but it sounds very extreme

I converted to Mormonism from protestantism 38 years ago during which time I have studied, served and practiced the religion. I have held pretty high leadership positions. I know the culture, teachings, values, and how it affects my life and family. But, hey, it sounds like you are the REAL expert.

Mormons give more money to charity than any other group of people in the world and no other group of people is even in the same ballpark, according to income tax returns.
Jesus Christ said, by their fruits ye shall know them.

You're just parroting twisted information, and that's not a good thing.
Now let me mop up this mess of our name that you have made:

~ Yes, we go out door-to-door preaching for as long as we can. I'm sorry, I didn't realize there was age limit, as to when we can stop going out. Jesus did it for His entire life. All of His followers, once they learned the truth, continued to do it for their entire lives.
What's the point? We'll stop when Jehovah says stop.
~ The meetings are meant for spiritual encouragement and nourishment. They deal with topics that are fit for all in attendance. Many kids enjoy going to meeting. They enjoy commenting, and being on the Theocratic Ministry School and the association of their fellow Witness peers.
What about all of the things that non-JW children are exposed to? From the video games they play, to the T.V, to the movies, to the music right down to their family members and friends. They have terrible things being vented towards them from all directions. I still don't see your point.
~ Women were never meant to take the lead in the congregation. That's God's law. Men are to lead, women are to follow. Are we being sexist? No. Women still play a big part, regardless. There are many Bible accounts of faithful women who did marvelous things. We don't pin down women as of being of any lesser importance than a man, they just do not take the dominant role.
Still don't see your point.
~ Pursuing higher education can lead someone astray from God. They can become caught up in getting that college degree, and receiving that high-paying job that makes them work many hours. They can become corrupt and materialistic.
Either way. I know Witnesses who have gone to college, are planning to go to college, and who are IN college right now. It's discouraged, not flat-out banned. My mother and uncle attended college, and they've been Witnesses from since child-birth. Besides, going to college is expensive, and many college students today can't even score any jobs, not even the ones they studied for. That's a waste of high amounts of money, don't you think? Many who have been out of college for eons are still paying their bills.
Besides, what sense does it make to struggle so much, to get that degree and make a ton of money, only to die and leave it all behind? You only need an education that will give you a modest-job, nothing needs to be over-top like how this world seems to think. "In order to survive, in order to be someone, you have to go to college and get that super job!" <--- That's pretty much how it is, but that isn't really true.
~ Mind-control? Oh wow . . that claim again. If I had a dollar for every time I heard someone call us mind-controlled, I'd be rich. Our organization is lead by God and His Son, Jesus. We don't worship mortal-man, nor do we follow mortal-man. Even the Elders and Governing Body are being led by God and Jesus, not any higher human authority.
If we see someone distancing themselves from us, becoming inactive, we strive to re-kindle their spirit. Get their head back in the game. If they truly choose to leave us, and rebel, well then they are indeed recognized as a disfellowshipped one. We follow God's laws and commandments very seriously. Anyone rebelling against that level of authority, the highest authority, is no friend of ours.
~ Holidays aren't everything. My life isn't controlled by a calendar, like most people. I've been on this earth for 14 years, and I've had a monster-sized amount of fun, without the use of pagan holidays, that God hates.
Joining the police force and the army would ultimately involve fighting against our fellow man, especially with the military. We stay neutral when it comes down to conflicts such as these.
Blood is something sacred to God. Getting a transfusion is no different than drinking it or eating it. Besides, there are alternatives that we do accept, that have been proven to be much more efficient, cheaper, and most of all, safer than a normal transfusion - which have been proven to carry diseases and not all the time even work.
. . . . At the end of the day. We serve God, and His Son, Christ Jesus. Our beliefs may be "far-out" and "weird" to some people. They may see us as "crazy" and "stupid", but that's only because they don't understand who we are. They go by what others say, and their own personal view of us, and take that as truth, without trying to find out accurate information from the source.
- - - Even if you don't pay attention to a single thing I just posted, and even if I get down-voted to the max, at least this will clear up any mis-conceptions someone else has of us.
