The amino acid profile of plant proteins differs, in that plant proteins contain less of certain amino acids. Animal protein amino acid profile more closely matches that of humans because...we're animals.

The difference can easily be made up bu consuming a wide variety of plant proteins so that all amino acids are consumed from one source or another. The most effective combination is that of beans and whole grains. Of course, if you eat eggs and dairy those are animal proteins. Of plant proteins soy and quinoa are the most complete.

Vegans and vegetarians can indeed acheive a great degree of masculinity-one need only look up vegan and vegetarian athletes and body builders to prove that. And a man who doesn't feel the need to take other creatures lives to satisfy his taste buds is very manly indeed IMO.

As a whole the answer is no, animal products usually contain alot more protein that non animal protein. Meat and eggs will contain alot more than beans and asparagus. More importantly your body cannot utilise protein from beans as well as it can from meat.

    For example:

    You body will use

88% of the protein from eggs

    78% fish, whey

    68% beef, chicken

48% soy bean (one of the highest protein values in a non animal product, others are usually alot lower)

You may want to look up NPU - net protein utilisation.

It's good to familiarise you with NPU as the protein stated on the packet is not the actual amount of protein your body will get so you may need to increase your intake for a healthy diet.

Meat protein has more health risk than plant based protein.

A steak has everything you need. A full amino acid profile, as well as all the vitamins. Plenty of protein, and fat to keep testosterone high.

Of course you can survive on a vegetarian diet...Just don't expect to be very masculine.

Source(s): To each their own. I need my steak.

why are you so obsess with protein. as long as you eat enough you cannot be protein deficient. you should be more concerned about vitamins & minerals.

avocado has more usable protein than a steak. plus avocado has tons of vitamins & minerals.

Fruits or vegetables contain very very less protein as compared to animals. So if you want to have more protein then you should go for animal protein only.

Most amino acids can be made from vegetables. But some are only available from animal proteins.
