First you need to do a better fuel mileage measurement over several tanks of gas. Reset the trip odometer at a complete fill up. Then read the odometer mileage at the next complete fill up. Divide the odometer miles by the number of gallons pumped to get miles per gallon. Average the results over many fill ups under different operating conditions (seasons, highway vs stop and go driving etc). The best mileage is on a long trip at 60 mph steady driving.
