How can I open a google market acct on my HTC my touch 3g phone?
New phone, I have a gmail acct on the phone and it works. In fact everything on the phone works except downloading apps from market. I am not sure if I need a seperate acct for market, or something is not set up right on the phone itself. All answers are appreciated, and thanks in advance.

There is no separate account for getting apps. The Play Store (what the Market is called now) is available to any Google account holder. Since you didn't explain what you meant by not being able to download apps, there's either an issue with the app or with your service.
