What can I do about Christmas lights?

I have the net kinds you throw on bushes. Some of them have half the lights out. What does this mean? Is there an interruption in the middle of the circuit? Missing or broken bulbs? Broken wire halfway through? Is this fixable or should I toss them? Obviously the fuses are okay and I don't want to get a light tester.

Look at the wires and bulbs, often one will have an obvious fault which you may be able to fix, if not you're probably best off getting a replacement, they're usually pretty cheap
