Acer laptop doesn't wake up when i lift the lid?

I have recently got an Acer Aspire 5755G and when I lift up the lid the laptop doesn't resume from standby. Is this normal or not? I have to press a key or the power button to get it to resume windows. Its rather annoying to be honest and the first laptop I have ever encountered that doesn't wake from standby by lifting the lid.

Can someone tell me if this is normal or a fault with the laptop/settings?

Since when did they make laptops that comes out of sleep by opening the lid? O.o

When you put the computer to sleep, it suspends the computer into a low power state. Whether you close the lid or not is irrelevant. So why would opening the lid wake the computer up from sleep?

The reason it sleeps when you close the lid, is because you set it up for that.

If you want to have windows resume when you open the lid, then go to power settings > advanced power setting > lid close action > do nothing.

There is no lid up function for laptops. which im not sure the exact reason, but it could be because its too easy to close > open the lid fast.

and if you sleep > unsleep back to back within like 0.5 secs, or shutdown > power on in like 0.5 secs, it would likely cause problems.

Or it could be to the fact they are using something like iflid==closed then do (one of the functions that you can do with lids). And all the lid close actions are to basically stop running windows and etc. So if used that logic in coding to lid being open, then when the lid is open(entire time you are using it) it would keep spamming the command, since iflid==open would be true and keep running the action.

And its really annoying you have to click ONE button ONE time when the computer is asleep? really? thats a new level of laziness...

Yes if its new modern machine then don't worry because mostly manufacturer's default settings

but still if you go to power option in you machine there is some setting that you can change

but not 100% sure this lid option available.

well like most laptops this is normal as it saves battery life.

this is how they conserve power by switching off when the lid is closed.

Was it working fine before or it just happened suddenly? If it was like this earlier means you cant do anything to change that. Because it was set by the factory like that.

change your power settings? maybe you you are putting it into shutdown instead of hibernate or standby...

try one of the latter two on the power settings in the control panel.
