that sounds about right, including the new flywheel, figure 6-7 hours labor plus however much the parts are. a little high, but if it's a dealer you know it will be fixed correctly

If it is a rear wheel drive that sounds high so I would ask around for a better estimate. If it is a front wheel or all wheel drive then that sounds just a little high so still ask around for estimates. The estimate from repairpal.com below is under $1000 the flywheel wouldn't add much labor but might add the cost of the flywheel see below and link. I saw a few kits on EBAY that included a flywheel priced from 167 and higher. If you went to AMMCO or another trans shop I suggest you check with some general repair shops for lower estimates.

Some shops may recommend that the flywheel be resurfaced when the clutch is replaced (where applicable). This will be in addition to the estimate you receive on RepairPal.
On some vehicles, the clutch slave cylinder is located in with the clutch assembly. To avoid having to remove the transmission before the next clutch job, we recommend the slave cylinder is replaced at the same time as the clutch.

do not race it like a activities vehicle, it may roll plenty much less complicated than a decrease midsection of gravity motor vehicle. perfect factor to look for is injury to the backside. Did the previous proprietor beat it to dying? verify the receipts. Did they save up on the oil variations, transmission, tansfer case, brake fluid, potential steerage, differential fluid? Is there a constrained slip rear differential? if so, does it have the 4oz of additive? lacking the additive can fee you a sparkling 0.33 member. verify the u-joints, hoses and the belt. Many Jeeps have extra advantageous tires so the speedo is off. In different words, the odometer would study a low extensive style however the motor vehicle has far extra.

Call your local auto parts store and ask prices for:
Clutch kit
throw out bearing
flywheel (chances are all he needs is to have his resurfaced and that should cost less than $45)
Labor to do the job shouldn't be more than 4 hours.
I think the price is high and they are trying to overcharge you for labor and parts. Look on ebay for parts
