SDRAM is DDR3... SDRAM (Desktop RAM) comes in several flavors: DDR1, DDR2, and DDR3. DDR3 is the latest SDRAM type and is much faster than DDR1 and DDR2 Memory. DDR stands for Double Data Rate and the "3" is the version of the DDR. DDR has to do with signal timing and clock speed timing for synchronizing with the Memory Controller. DDR3 reduces the clock speed without effecting performance by performing two operations per clock cycle (one read and one write) at the beginning and ending edges of each clock cycle. So you may have RAM that runs at "800Mhz", which isn't really running that fast. It actually runs at 400Mhz but since their are two operations per clock cycle, it is as if it were running at 800Mhz. So yes, go with the DDR3 memory; just make sure it has a high clock speed that your laptop can handle.

SDRAM is basically DDR1, In retrospect DDR3 is much faster, I would go for ddr3 because it basically means 2x SDRAM ver. 3 lol , just a simplified version.

I don't think you can install RAM,which you Prefer.You GOT to use RAM for what system is designed.To do it Go on site www.crucial.com. Let software scan computer and tell you exactly,what RAM you can use.
