The Wikipedia article on polycarbonate plastics (of which CDs

and DVDs are made) says that the melting point is 155 C,

which is far above the boiling point of water (100 C).

Therefore, you'd never be able to melt it the way you described.

However, you could of course, melt it by placing the pan directly on a burner.

If you try it, do it outdoors (use a camp stove), and stand

well away from the pan in case there are any harmful fumes.

As does another answerer, I also wonder why you'd want to do this.

I suppose i might poke holes within the field and ship you Spicy the Wondercat. She's my favorite in my herd of two. First, she represents my YA identification, where i've printed more of myself than in some other forum. There can be discovered some inkling of my ideas and feelings, as well as (new!) photos of my loved ones and travels on my 360. (Visisble to associates.) My girls are my pleasure. My essense will raise on in lots of methods by means of them. Spicy captures my essence in that she places on a exhibit of fierce independence -- she acts as if she desires nobody and is skittish about attention, but relishes it. She's no longer fooling anybody. She may be very self-reliant. She has managed to find her bag of food and open it on her possess when essential. She'll drink from the bathroom if that's what it takes to outlive. She knows existence has it is instances of feast and famine. The wondercat enjoys a excellent antique catnip on party at the same time mendacity stretched out in front of the woodstove on a winters evening. She is highly playful whilst you don't seem to be expecting to look her come flying with the aid of (we nonetheless must buy her the superhero cape). I might be displaying that I care by way of giving up my loved Spicy; i'm not sure anybody would understand what to make of her. It is my essence to be refined.
