can an american get a job working in thailand as a x-ray technologist in hospital?
I'm a 48 year old american living in california. Wanted to know as a licensed x-ray technologist how hard would it be to get a job in a hospital? I little knowledge of the thai language. Having said that, are there any opportunities for an American to get a job working in my field?

Most likely no. Why hire someone who don't speak the language to do the same job a local person can do. It makes no sense to hire you unless you have some very special skill that Thais are not trained in. Your 48 years old you should have figured that out on your own. After you retire then think about coming here.

Thailand has many hospitals with X-ray technicians who can actually read and write Thai! Work permits are hard to get and you would need to have a specialty that a Thai citizen can not fill. Salaries are low anyway. Your salary and living conditions would be better working at a McDonalds in the US.
Visit first, talk to other expats and see if you even like the country. The Thai Visa Forum has information on working in Thailand and other help for living in Thailand.

Only Thais can take jobs from Americans. Americans can only do a very limited job. Thais pirate every American product then get rich and move to America. Thais learn how to use computers on stolen software then get jobs using computers in America. Thank you America for letting us steal from your people. hahaha

It better to be a Mri or Ct tech for traveling However to be honest with you there arent that many jobs for traveling X-ray techs. Maybe if u were a nurse or Therapist. X-ray tech dont have much to pick from. Try becoming a good tech then move to ct or mri before you travel

You need a college degree to qualify for a work visa. To work in a hospital you would need native level Thai. That not only means speaking, but reading and writing as well.
So I'd say your chances are zip / zero.

First you need to learn about a work permit. See below. i think you would need to have a good knowledge of the language to be able to follow and give directions and communicate in the work setting.

Yeah, sorry - basic rule is that if a Thai can do it, you can't get the job. And it would likely be a big salary cut - best off to save the $$ and have your vacations here...
