Can someone identify this bird?

My bf said he saw this bird while out working yesterday. We live in south Florida. He said the bird looked like some sort of finch. He described it as having a dark green head and strip down back... Brown tail... And a bright red belly. Any ideas?

In Florida (esp S. Florida) it could be any exotic species (non-native). So many pet birds escape & establish themselves. Your description made me think of a species of parrot finch (red belly, green head) but I didn't recognize the rest of your description. This site gives pics of some of the most popular finches kept a pets, any could survive the S. Florida climate: http://www.avianweb.com/finchspecies.htm. Click on some of the names for a picture. Good luck.
